عدة من أصحابنا عن أحمد بن محمد عن بكر بن صالح عن سليمان الجعفري عن أبي الحسن الرضا (عليه السلام) قال: الطاؤوس مسخ كان رجلا جميلا فكابر امرأة رجل مؤمن تحبه فوقع بها ثم راسلته بعد فمسخهما الله عز وجل طاؤوسين أنثى وذكرا ولا يؤكل لحمه ولا بيضه‌

[al Kafi, Volume no. 6] – Imam al Reza (as) said: The peacock is a morphed creature. It used to be a man of beautiful appearance, whereupon he seduced the wife of a believing man who loved him and copulated with her. Afterwards they exchanged letters and Allah (azwj) transformed them into two peacocks, a female and a male, so neither eat it’s flesh nor it’s eggs.
